Candelaria

Candelaria via the Seafront Promenade

There are four ways to get to Candelaria from the hotel.

1) Walk through the local shopping area of Punta Larga.
2) Walk along the seafront promenade.
3) Catch the local Titsa Bus.
4) Go by Taxi.

To walk will take you around 40/45 minutes at a reasonable walking pace. It’s a nice walk whichever way you go, and you can take as much time as you like to enjoy everything there is to see on the way, of course.
If you struggle with walking, then you will probably be better off catching the bus from the bus stop very close to the hotel entrance. (See bus directions here: Click For Bus Details)

2) Via the seafront Promenade.

1) Cross over the road outside the hotel entrance and walk to the right:

2) Keep walking until you reach the fork in the road and “La Barraca” restaurant:

3) Keep walking to the LEFT of “La Barraca” restaurant:

4) Carry on walking on the pavement and keep to your left:

5) Walk to the bottom of the hill and you will arrive at the start of the promenade:

6) Continue walking along the seafront:
(There is a restaurant and a couple of bars where you see the scaffolding in this photo)

7) There are some restaurants, bars and shops along the way:

8) And some more as you continue along the promenade:

9) If you like fresh fish, this is the restaurant to visit:
It’s quite large and very popular with the locals. The owner is proud and likes to show you the different types of fish he has available that day and the best way to cook each one.

10) Carry on along the seafront:

11) If you take the turn to the right here, you will reach the Punta Larga Commercial Centre (indoor shopping mall). You reach this when taking the route through Punta Larga too.
Carry straight on for Candelaria.

12) Just continue straight on past some more shops and cafe’s:

13) This is where the route via Punta Larga and the route via the seafront merge.
If you were coming via Punta Larga, you would be coming from the turn on the right.

14) Carry on walking straight until you reach the mini roundabout:

15) Walk past the shops on the left and down the small hill:

16) Keep to the left, follow the arrow:

17) And along the Candelaria seafront:

18) Until you reach the bottom where you’ll find the Tourist Information Office on your left:

19) Continue down the pedestrianised area towards the Basilica and the square. There are bars and restaurants in this area and two wicked ice cream stalls!

20) Finally out into the square where there are a couple more nice restaurants and places to explore.

From these directions, this may seem like a very long walk!
At an average walking pace, it will take around 40 to 45 minutes. I’m sure there will be those who walk it faster and those who walk it slower, but it’s a nice walk with plenty to see along the way.

You can enjoy a beer or any other refreshment when you get here!

When we stay at the hotel, we regularly walk this in the morning and get back to the hotel in time for lunch before serving finishes.

The alternative way to walk to Candelaria is via the local shopping area of Punta Larga. Please click here to see these directions: Walking directions via Punta Larga
